UTG M14 AEG Airsoft Rifle Review

The new Chinese-made UTG M14 AEG Rifle is a vision in black… too bold? Probably! It is an impressive gun though.

Designed around the real M14, this airsoft gun is anything but a cheap imitation. You can put yourself in the shoes of a soldier and feel like a real one for a few seconds. The vision will take you to the war front where you can feel the metal barrel and bolt exhibiting a natural cycling effect. The realistic feeling gets more emphasized by the adjustable hop-up and handguard with Picatinny rail. The Tactical Rail System on the top and underside of the front allows accessories to be easily fitted into the rifle. The gearbox, barrel and receiver are all made of metal and are Marui compatible.

The UTG M14 sports a 14mm CW threaded muzzle in the front sight. The receiver is attached to a metal scope mount. Both the front sight and the mount are removable. Elevation and windage are taken care of by the rear sight. ABS plastic made stock has the Picatinny rail for mounting a bi-pod, laser, or flashlight in front.

Even if you are not a sharp shooter, you can find aim using a UTG M14. This rifle is extremely accurate and will allow you to shoot at long range using a speed of 320 FPS with an effective range of 150 feet. You can shower a barrage of BBs from the high end electric Airsoft rifle in a matter of seconds. The clip holds 300 rounds. The accessories include a second magazine in case the first runs out. 0.20 BBs are recommended for better effect. An 8.4V 4200maAH battery pack is the energy source behind this action.

The Good

1. Heavy weight – Accuracy is more due to the heavy weight of the rifle.
2. 2 high-capacity magazines – A typcial player will find it hard to run out of ammunition.
3. Functional bolt – The rattling of the bolt lends a realistic effect.
4. Realistic look – The polished and sleek black look makes it look a lot like the real thing.
5. Accuracy and power – The accuracy and power are to be felt and savored.
6. Nice cycling sound of barrel and bolt – Again, this gives a realistic sound effect to the toy rifle.

The Not-So-Good

1. Long barrel – A shorter barrel would have been less awkward.
2. Magazine catch system – The system needs to be improved upon.
3. Tight bore barrel – Smoothness should be ensured for efficient use.
4. Small size of battery compartment – A larger battery compartment would have helped more ammunition to be used for more rounds and more power.
5. Faulty automatic mode – Sometimes the rifle gets jammed in auto mode and has to be fired in semi-auto mode for the deficiency to be cleared up.
